Sukkot & Simchat Torah

We’re right in the heart of the joyous Z’man Simchateinu, or “Season of our Rejoicing,” as we continue to celebrate the festival of Sukkot and prepare for Simchat Torah. Initially a Jewish harvest festival, Sukkot also serves as a reminder of the 40 years the Jewish people wandered through the desert after the giving of the Torah. Sukkot also holds a special place among the three Torah-commanded Jewish festivals – standing alongside Passover and Shavuot -- as  the only Jewish festival with a direct commandment to rejoice! And we still have plenty of opportunities to gather and fulfill this mitzvah together. Tonight, feast on beers & brats at SukkotFest, hosted by the TJ Brotherhood and WTJ (registration closed). Then Wednesday, enjoy some wine and fun treats as TJ's Purim Committee hosts an open house event for adults! This is a fun, super easy way to learn more about and get involved with Temple Judea's famous Purim carnival! RSVP here. It's TJVillage's turn to gather in the Sukkah on Thursday with Rabbi Raff, while our ECC and Religious School students will swing by during the week as part of their classes, too!

The celebration doesn't stop there! Friday we transition to Simchat Torah -- celebrating the end of one Torah cycle and the start of another. In the morning, our Temple Judea clergy has thoughtfully organized a special family service for ECC families.  Later that evening at 6:15pm, you're invited to join a joyous Erev Shabbat & Simchat Torah service for all, featuring dancing, singing, and unrolling the Torah. Families can also share in the rejoicing with friends at a Youth & Family dinner before the service (advance registration required).

There is so much to honor in our Jewish heritage, and we look forward to connecting with you in the Sukkah!
