We are excited to offer your 8th-12th grade student an opportunity to remain connected with Temple Judea throughout high school as a classroom assistant, in Jewish Studies and Hebrew Studies, by being a madrich or madricha. Your teen will choose to volunteer in a classroom on either Sunday mornings from 8:30am-12:00pm (Jewish Studies and Hebrew Studies), OR on Tuesday afternoons from 3:45-6:45pm (Jewish Studies and Hebrew Studies). We are happy to offer your teen community service hours for their time!
In addition to their classroom time, all teens engaged in this program commit to “madrichim training,” with our Youth Director, Herschel Bleefeld. This training consists of a once-monthly “Lunch and Learn” program here at Temple following Sunday religious school from 12:00-12:45pm. Madrichim training dates are as follows for the 2016-2017 academic year:
August 28 (Orientation – 10am-1pm)
A Note to 8th Grade Families:
All 8th graders will serve as “MIT’s” or “Madrichim-in-Training” for the first semester of the school year, unless your child brings special skills or experience to the table. This means they will shadow an older madrich(a) in a classroom to acquire the necessary experience to assist in a classroom alone. The decision to allow a particular 8th grader to serve as a madrich(a) in the first semester without shadowing will be up to the discretion of the Director of Education.
Students are allowed to miss up to 3 training sessions with a written excuse to our Youth Director, Herschel Bleefeld.
Applications are due by Thursday, August 25th.
