Women of Temple Judea
|
Women of Temple Judea is an active, fun, and gratifying auxiliary of our Temple. It is made up of a diverse and welcoming group of women, and we want to include you.
Your WTJ membership is an opportunity to meet wonderful women you might otherwise never cross paths with around the Temple, support an auxiliary organization which serves our Temple, and attend our annual Membership Brunch in October. When you join WTJ you will be proud of what we do.
Though our fund-raising efforts, such as Catering, the Judaica Gift Shop, a Chanukah Boutique, and Rummage Sales, WTJ is able to finance and maintain our kitchens, and was able to contribute to the Temple's sound system, dance floors, computer system, copiers and telephone system. Our financial support helped our Religious School purchase a projection screen, and our annual contribution to our Temple youth groups helps some teenagers attend NFTY Conventions. We also assist in sending our 9th graders to Israel!
We will send Tribute Cards for moments of condolences, as well as congratulations, at your request. On Friday evenings, we arrange for the flowers on our bima, refreshments, and hostesses for the Oneg Shabbat. We also sponsor a Women's Seder and a Women's retreat. In addition, we co-sponsor, with Brotherhood, a complimentary Bagel Brunch on the first Sunday of Religious School. All of these good works, and more, are performed with a heartfelt commitment to our Temple. All are performed with volunteer hands. All are rewarding and fun to do.
And, as one of over 640 Sisterhoods nationally, WTJ is part of the international Women of Reform Judaism. Our affiliation with WRJ promotes a range of Jewish and humanitarian efforts, such as funding scholarships for rabbinic students, sponsoring youth activities, and supporting special projects both here and in Israel.
Women of Temple Judea offers a variety of opportunities for you. The level of involvement is up to you. From making friends to social activities, from participating in ritual to becoming involved on our Board, we have a place for you.
