Hebrew Program
Students study Hebrew in the 4th through 6th grades with the goal of reading Hebrew with mastery, chanting and recognizing certain key Hebrew words by the conclusion of 6th grade. In addition, they will understand the meaning of each individual prayer listed below and any choreography associated with it. Students will be able to identify when the prayer is spoken (e.g. in a service or on a particular holiday) and where the prayer fits in a service.
Tutoring Options
Temple Judea provides your child with the opportunity to be tutored in Hebrew with programs that fit into your family schedule. We offer an in-home tutoring program that is either private in or in pairs as well as small classroom groups.
In Home Tutoring (Kesher)
Kesher students, whether single or in pairs, are tutored in 45 minute Hebrew lessons in the comfort of your own home. Hebrew tutoring sessions are arranged at a mutually convenient time for families and tutors. Students must complete a total of 25 sessions for each school year.
Small Classroom Groups (Kvutzah)
Kvutzah students meet on campus for weekly sessions at a variety of convenient times during the week and follow the Religious School calendar. Students coming from the Nisayon Program spend 90 minutes each week in class which includes a 30 minute “learning” service with members of the clergy. Students coming from the Traditional Religious School Program spend 60 minutes each week as the "learning" service is incorporated into their regular Judaica class.
