Dear Temple Judea Family,
In the moment, it is usually a simple thing: “Hey, let’s get together to start a……” Little league, charity, art organization — that’s how it usually begins. A few people see a need and join together to start a group to meet that need.
Almost 65 years ago, that’s precisely how Temple Judea began. A small group of people in the Valley saw the need for a synagogue. They created Temple Judea. Because of that simple act, literally tens of thousands of Jews in the San Fernando Valley have celebrated, cried, observed and learned. We’ve created scores of Jewish professionals. In a very real and tangible way, we’ve created thousands of Jews.
We stand on the shoulders of the many men and women who created Temple Judea so many years ago. Fortunately, many of the founders and first generation Judea members are still with us. Yet, the time has come for a new generation of leaders to take the mantle of leadership and do the heavy lifting for now and the future.
I hope you feel an obligation — that is what it is — to your children and grandchildren, to do for them what was done for you. In that spirit, I ask that you offer a generous contribution of the heart to our annual campaign. Please consider becoming a Pillar with a minimum gift of $1,000 over standard membership. Or, consider becoming a member of the Rabbi’s Circle with a gift of at least $10,000. Be the leader we will speak about 65 years from now.
On behalf of Debbie and my children, I wish you a New Year of blessing and hope.
Rabbi Joshua M. Aaronson
There are two components to the Annual Campaign:
Pillars of the Community are those members who pledge over and above Standard Membership so that we can welcome all families into our community, regardless of their ability to pay.
High Holy Day Appeal is the responsibility of every member of our community to fulfill, so that we can continue to provide the services that are central to our mission.
