Youth Groups

At Temple Judea, we offer four outstanding youth programs for children in grades 2-12, consisting of social, religious, and cultural programming, which takes place in an informal and fun setting, under the supervision of our professional youth advisors. Participating in a Jewish Youth Group is an important way in which Jewish children create a positive connection with the Jewish people and Jewish tradition. Our supportive environment enables children to broaden their friendships with Jewish kids beyond their own regular school experience. 

JSTY
Judea Senior Temple Youth

Grades 9-12

This youth group, for high school students, offers a full calendar of monthly weekend events throughout the school year. From the annual "Snow Conclave" weekend to the "8 to 8" overnight, from leading a teen Shabbat service to social action projects, JSTY events are planned and coordinated by its elected leadership board and guided by a professional youth director. Membership in JSTY includes the ability to receive discounted rates, priority reservations for certain events and membership in NFTY (National Federation of Temple Youth), offering regional and national events during the year for youth groups throughout Southern California.

Temple Members & Non-Temple Members are welcome to participate in JSTY!

JETY
Judea Extraordinary Temple Youth

Grades 6-8

JETY has an active schedule, especially since we explore all the fun activities available in the San Fernando Valley and beyond. From the Mystery Bus Ride, to Broomball, and the annual Purim Shul-In, JETY offers great opportunities for 7th and 8th graders to meet new people while also hanging out with their friends. JETY plays an active role in the life of our synagogue and membership includes discounted rates and priority reservations for certain events. Temple Members Only

JFTY
Judea Fabulous Temple Youth

Grades 4-5

This energetic youth group has a packed schedule! Each month JFTY takes an adventure to different locations, including but not limited to Laser Tag, Universal Studios, and horseback riding. There are always new people to meet and lots of energy. Membership in JFTY includes discounted rates on events. Temple Members Only

RISHONIM

Grades 2-3

With five weekend events a year, Rishonim offers our young children a glimpse into what youth group is all about. Events, such as the Maccabiah Games, include arts and crafts activities, holiday themes, games, and fun snacks. Membership includes Rishonim event discounted rates. Temple Members Only

Community Service Opportunities

 Many of our youth are required to take part in a certain number of community service hours a semester for their regular schools. We offer numerous opportunities for our children to fulfill those requirements. From participating in or planning the annual Mitzvah Day, food and clothing drives, or for our older kids, volunteering to staff youth events, there are plenty of opportunities for the youth of Temple Judea to make a difference.
