Juvenile Diabetes (All Ages)
New Hope Mission (All Ages)
Help our Mission families move into their new Tujunga facility, which will serve as a store, kitchen and a residence. Highlight your painting, cleaning, meal preparation talents, and more.
Project Chicken Soup (Age 12 up)
Want to do a Mitzvah for someone with HIV or AIDS? Prepare, pack or deliver meals to more than 100 recipients of Project Chicken Soup. Space is limited. Children 12 and older may participate in this project; however anyone under age 15 must be accompanied by a parent.
School on Wheels (All Ages)
Help a homeless child read more. Bring your slightly used books to Temple on or before Mitzvah Day. We’ll make sure School on Wheels receives them.
Jewish Home for the Aged (All Ages)
Brighten a seniors Day. Join us for art projects and other activities to show the seniors in our greater community that we care. Details will be available as we near Mitzvah Day.
SOVA Food Pantry (All Ages)
Help needy families with your for donations SOVA. We need volunteers to sort and separate the food items.
Mitzvah Day (All Ages)
Mitzvah Day offers a variety of events for our Temple families to choose. You can participate in our Juvenile Diabetes Walk, donate or sort food for SOVA food pantry, volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Aging, Project Chicken Soup, or the New Hope Mission, collect slightly used books for School on Wheels. We’ll also have a variety of arts and crafts projects for the younger children to do for children in hospitals, decorate potholders for solar cookers being sent to Africa (Jewish World Watch), plant a tree (Tree People) or write a note to a soldier overseas (Operation Gratitude). We want you to have fun, but we also want you to take a moment and explain to your children that what they are doing on Mitzvah Day matters. That through their Tsadakah that day, they are giving of themselves for the betterment of their community and the world--helping those who are ill, less fortunate, and fighting overseas.
