Brotherhood

Brotherhood Pancake 2 Brotherhood 5

As a dynamic and forward-thinking group of men, the mission and main goal of the Temple Judea Brotherhood is to make a difference in the life of our synagogue and the greater Jewish community by active participation in nearly every facet of Temple life. Our diverse activities range from our monthly poker game, a yearly men’s retreat, providing gifts for every Bar and Bat Mitzvah child, to being the grill masters of the annual Purim Carnival. Part of our mission is that we strive to achieve Tikkun Olam, to make our world a better place.

With the re-opening of our campus, we are proud to have been chosen as the operator of the Temple cafe where we will serve premium fair-traded coffee along with snacks to our Temple congregants and greater community.

Temple Judea Brotherhood provides many tangible as well as intangible gifts to our congregation.  We provide scholarships for children from preschoolers to post B'nai Mitzvah so they can participate in summer camps and retreats, as well as many other important youth programs. We work with all Temple Judea auxiliaries and are represented at nearly every Temple event. Look for the Brotherhood ushers every Friday night at Shabbat services. Each year we provide Yom HaShoah candles for our entire Judea family.

We also engage in many social and sporting activities for our own enjoyment such as day trips to wineries and auto museums, poker games, and going to baseball, basketball and hockey games with our youth groups.  In the past, we have put on major shows and dances, giving us the opportunity to develop friendships, network, have fun and feel more a part of the Temple community.

All Temple Judea "brothers" are invited to join our group of friendly and dedicated men. Our monthly meeting is open to all Temple men and is held on the second Tuesday evening of every month. To find out more about our activities, please e-mail us at and we’ll put you on our mailing list or get the name of a Brotherhood representative from the Temple office, (818) 758-3800, for more information.

We promise you will experience the personal satisfaction that comes from doing good things for others simply because you can, and because it is the right thing to do.
